Network Hamster does not collect, store, transmit or sell your personal information. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising networks and no tracking of any kind. Your measurements never leave your iPhone.
Nothing. We operate no servers that receive your data. There is no sign-up, no login, and no email address required to use any feature of the app.
The app saves its results locally so history survives between launches:
All of it lives in the app's private storage on your iPhone. None of it is uploaded anywhere. Deleting the app deletes all of it.
Diagnosing a network means sending traffic across it. The app contacts these public services purely to take measurements. We have no business relationship with them and send them nothing about you beyond what any ordinary internet request necessarily reveals — chiefly your IP address, which is inherent to how the internet works.
| Service | Why the app contacts it |
|---|---|
| speed.cloudflare.com | Download and upload throughput, latency under load |
| 1.1.1.1 · 8.8.8.8 · 9.9.9.9 · 208.67.222.222 | Public DNS resolvers used as ping targets |
| cloudflare-dns.com · dns.google · dns.quad9.net | DNS resolution timing and record lookups |
| api.ipify.org | Determining your public IP address |
| rdap.arin.net | Public registry (whois) information about IP addresses |
| ipwho.is | Approximate location of traceroute hops for the route map |
| stun.l.google.com · stun.cloudflare.com | Detecting your NAT type |
| connectivitycheck.gstatic.com | Detecting captive portals |
Each operates under its own privacy policy. We share nothing with them beyond the request itself.
Used to measure latency to your own router, so the app can tell the difference between a problem inside your network and one at your ISP. It does not scan for, identify or catalogue other devices on your network.
Used only if you tap Record on the coverage map. Your position is paired with your own latency measurements and drawn on a map on your device. Location data is never transmitted anywhere. Decline it and every other feature works normally.
Used only during Monitor Mode sessions, to alert you if your connection drops or spikes while you are watching it. Notifications are generated locally on your iPhone; no push server is involved.
If the app offers any in-app purchase, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple. We never see or receive your name, payment card, or billing address — Apple tells the app only whether a purchase exists. Any record of that is stored on your device.
The app may show links to other brands operated by Harborview IT. These are ordinary links: no advertising network is involved, no tracking identifiers are attached, and nothing about you is transmitted when they are displayed. Tapping one simply opens the website in your browser.
Network Hamster is a utility rated 4+ and is safe for all ages. Because we collect no data from anyone, we collect no data from children.
Regulations such as GDPR and CCPA give you the right to access, correct and delete personal data held about you. We hold none, so there is nothing to request. To erase everything the app has stored locally, delete the app or use the Clear button in the Events panel.
Material changes will be posted here with an updated date. If we ever add analytics, advertising or affiliate tracking, this page will be updated before those features ship.
